farewell, brighton.

so i meant to start this as i left boston - the sort of official start of my westward journey - but yesterday morning came and i finished packing the car and cleaned the apartment and loaded the bikes precariously on the back, and then i'm in the car and headed west. luckily, i still had about 7 hours of the ride left to think about my first post. so here goes.

it seems so trite to say that leaving boston was difficult - of course it was difficult. it's not like i didn't expect this. but all the same... it was tough. i still can't really believe i've given up these amazing people and everything i know for this idea of potential happiness on the other side of the country. and then, to have received the amount of support i've been given from these people i'm abandoning - i'm overcome. i could not wish for anything, anyone, more than you. thank you all so much for your friendships, for your laughter, for your understanding and support. i will miss you all more than you can know.

i may not understand why this move feels right - if more than a little crazy, and more than a lot scary - but i'm trusting the signs i'm given. i'm trusting the feelings telling me now is the time to go. i'm trusting the eagles - the first song i heard as i pulled onto the pike.

so here i go. put me on a highway, and show me a sign.

As someone who made the same trip (give or take a stop in Rochester) slightly over a year ago, I hear you, girl. You will miss Boston. You will miss your friends. But it's your life and your adventure now!
